From Fig 1: it will be seen that transit time did reduce to 11.27 hr on the Jean Miro which is likely to be cut by the planned AVE/TGV to 6hrs+when it starts in 2013.

By 2000 the high speed introduction has already changed services from the through trains of 1969. Zurich has been added but Roma has no through working in 2000. The introduction of through running from the AVE to TGV routes will have substantial improvements in speed. As an example, in the planned service, Paris to Madrid can be achieved leaving Paris at 07.10 and arriving at Madrid at 17.10 with one change at Barcelona within the same day.
